March  1 1670 - The "Constitutions" for the Carolinas were signed by the king, but were not acceptable to the people.
March  2 1764 - Date of the Charter of Brown University.
March  3 1636 - The Massachusetts Council granted temporary commissions to four companies about to settle Connecticut.
March   4 1629 - First Charter of the Massachusetts Bay Colony granted.
March  5 1750 - The first Theatrical Performance in New York City.
March  6 1769 - Vermont was separated from New York as a distinct Colony.
March  7 1763 - The Ministers and Elders of the French Church in New York applied for a charter.
March  8 1638 - Captain John Mason was appointed Major-General of the Connecticut forces.
March  9 1723 - The French settlement of Old Town, Maine was attacked and burned by Massachusetts troops. 
March 10 1643 - The English House of Commons released Colonists from the oath of allegiance to King Charles I.
March 11 1736 - All beggars in New York were ordered by the Council to be put to hard labor.
March 12  1664 - Long Island and New York were granted by Charles II to the Duke of York.
March 13 1639 - The name of "Harvard" was given to the college at Cambridge, Mass. 
March 14 1644 - A charter was granted to Rhode Island at the request of Roger Williams.
March 15 1653 - First Public Debt of New Amsterdam created.
March 16 1648 - Taverns were first licensed in New Amsterdam by the Dutch
March 17 1757 - French attack on Fort William Henry at Lake George.
March 18 1766 - The Stamp Act was repealed by Parliament.
March 19 The third Liberty Pole was erected in New York City.
March 20 1687 - Death of La Salle, the French discoverer of the Mississippi
March 21 1733 - Bowling Green in New York City was set apart as a Public Park. 
March 23 1621 - First regular Town Meeting held at Plymouth, when Gov. Carver was re-elected.
March 24 1621 - The first offender in New England was tried and convicted for insubordination and profanity.
March 25 1609 - The Hudson River was discovered by Hendrick Hudson.
March 26 1676 - Battle with Narragansett Indians at Rehoboth in which Capt. Michael Peirce and a company of Plymouth troops were killed.
March 27 1676 - Capture of the Indian Chief Canonchet by Connecticut and Indian troops.
March 28 1676 - Roger Williams attempted to restrain the Narragansett Indians from an attack on Providence.
March 29 1665 - Gov. Nicolls attempted to quarter soldiers on the Dutch.  An unpopular measure.
March 30 1752 - Isabella Morris, widow of Gov. Morris of New York, died in her eightieth year.
March 31 1653 - Palisades were built to protect New York against the Indians.

Search Revolutionary War Service Records, 1775-83   This database is a collection of records kept by the National Archives listing men who fought for the colonies during the war.  This database contains only those records available in the National Archives and may not include all persons involved in the American Revolutionary War.  Compiled Military Service Records (CMSR)Each volunteer soldier has one Compiled Military Service Record (CMSR) for each regiment in which he served.

Search Colonial Families in the U.S.   This database covers the families of the early English colonies in America. Beginning with the first landing at Jamestown this series covers families up through the start of the American Revolutionary War and beyond into the Nineteenth Century. Many vital records are included, as well as locations of births, marriages, and deaths. In addition to containing family genealogies this database also contains armorial bearings, or coats of arms, for some of the more prominent families from England and Scotland. 

Old Colony Ancestors Online    Access this database of nearly 200,000 names with roots in Southeastern Massachusetts, complete with citations, containing information on over 57,000 marriages, with a total of more than 950,000 text records. Some families are followed for only 2-3 generations, but many are traced for up to 15 generations. Once a family moved beyond the Southeastern Massachusetts area, most reports stop. Some are followed as they migrated westward into the Berkshires and up into Vermont and upstate New York.
