American army surprised and routed. General Ashe with 1500 North Carolina militia and Georgia Continentals. General Bryan's brigade and Colonel Lyttle's light infantry.
Colonel Marbury's Georgia light horse; the command of General Samuel Elbert, with Colonel Perkins' regiment, forming the advance. (General Lincoln at Purysburg, General Rutherford, of North Carolina, at Black Swamp, and General Andrew Williamson opposite Augusta).

In the advance on the fort the van of the right of 150 volunteers under Lieutenant-Colonel De Fleury-; that of the left of 100 volunteers under Major John Stewart, preceded by an advance guard under Lieutenants Gibbons and Knox. Main divisions ; the right composed of the regiments of Colonels Febiger and Meigs,, led by Wayne in person ; the left of Colonel Butler's regiment and two companies under Major Murfee. Colonel Fee's light horse formed the reserve and the brigade of General Muhlenberg, 300 strong, formed the covering party.

This database contains only those records available in the National
Archives and may not include all persons involved in the American
Revolutionary War. Compiled Military Service Records (CMSR)Each
volunteer soldier has one Compiled Military Service Record (CMSR) for
each regiment in which he served.

This database covers the families of the early
English colonies in America. Beginning with the first landing at
Jamestown this series covers families up through the start of the
American Revolutionary War and beyond into the Nineteenth Century. Many
vital records are included, as well as locations of births, marriages,
and deaths. In addition to containing family genealogies this database
also contains armorial bearings, or coats of arms, for some of the more
prominent families from England and Scotland.

total of more than 950,000 text records. Some families are followed for
only 2-3 generations, but many are traced for up to 15 generations. Once
a family moved beyond the Southeastern Massachusetts area, most reports
stop. Some are followed as they migrated westward into the Berkshires
